| Massimo Florio, President |
|
Massimo Florio is the President and founder of CSIL, Centre for
Industrial Studies. He is one of the leading European experts in
regional development and evaluation research and he has a very
strong knowledge of EU policies. He is currently Professor of
Economics of European Integration (Jean Monnet Chair), University of
Milan and Dean, Faculty of European Economic Studies, Head
Department of Economics. His research interests include regional
development economics, welfare economics, public investment
appraisal, privatization and regulation, growth of public
expenditures, small business economics. |
| Ugo Finzi, Senior Evaluator |

Ugo Finzi has over thirty years of experience in international
development evaluation and management. He has been associated since
1966 with the World Bank, where he has held a variety of staff and
management positions, related to policy, sector and project work. He
is a senior evaluator and exhibits longstanding experience in the
formulation of evaluation methodology and applied evaluation to
development projects and other fields. His other specialisations
include coordination of development assistance, policy advice and
sector work on energy, industry, municipal services, environment,
assistance to development of small and medium-sized enterprises,
teaching of project analysis. He has been selected as a trainer for
the EC officials of the Evaluation Unit of the DG Regio for
evaluation and project appraisal. |
| Alberto Marcati, Marketing Advisor |

Alberto Marcati is professor of Marketing at Luiss University of
Rome where he teaches Economics and business management. Formerly,
he was the Chairman for the Degree course in Economics of tourism
and Head of the Co-ordination centre of Rimini branch of Bologna
University. His visiting positions included:1986, Mit (Boston); 1992
Harvard Business School of Cambridge (Massachusetts); 1995 Kellogg
Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston
(Illinois); 1996 University of Michigan Business School of Ann Arbor
(Michigan). |
| Davide Pettenella, Forestry Advisor |

He is an economist, specialising in forestry. He worked as a
consultant for the FED, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the
World Bank, FAO and ENCC, the European Commission in several areas
of the world. Professor of forestry economics at the University of
Padua, he is Member of the 'Societą Italiana degli Economisti
Agrari', of the European Association of Agricultural Economists, of
the 'Accademia Italiana di Scienze Forestali', fellow of the Wolfson
College (Oxford), member of the Executive Committee of the
Association of Italian Foresters, Italian representative in the
Executive Committee of the Union of European Foresters. |
| Alessandro Sterlacchini, Industrial Policy Advisor |

He is Professor at the Department of Management and Industrial Organisation the Marche Polytechnic University (Ancona, Italy) where he teaches Industrial Economics and Economics of Innovation. He obtained the following academic titles: Laurea degree in Economics & Business; Master in Science, Technology and Industrialisation at SPRU, University of Sussex (UK). PhD in Economics at the University of Ancona.
His research interests focus on Economics of Innovation and more specifically: determinants and effects of R&D and other indicators of innovative activity; innovation policy towards small and medium sized enterprises; new firms' formation; determinants of export performance at firm level; impact of Information and Communication Technologies on employment and productivity. His other activities involved his role as a senior expert in the evaluation of regional policies and the Observatory of European SMEs. specialises in administrative and tax law and manages a consulting
firm to assist companies and individuals. |
| Aurelio Volpe, Advisor |

He is the marketing director of CSIL. With a Laurea Degree in
Economics from the University of Palermo and a Master in Business
Administration at the Bocconi University of Milan, he has
longstanding experience in international market research and
economic analysis for SMEs support consulting. He carries out market
research and economic analysis on the main sectors of
labour-intensive industries in the world, with experience of more
than 150 projects in 20 countries. |
| Chiara Stella Pugliese, Advisor |

Partner since 1992 and member of the Direction since 1997, she
coordinates the market research unit of CSIL with a production of
more than 70 reports a year. She holds a laurea degree in Economics,
a Master from the ISTAO of Ancona and an upper degree in
International Business Strategy and Market Research at the LSE. |

She holds a degree in Economics from Bocconi University and after a stage at UNESCO, Paris, she started her collaboration as a research fellow at CSIL. She currently is a CSIL Partner and Director of the Development and Evaluation Unit. She has also had teaching appointments fellowship at the University of Milan in Macroeconomics, Economics of European Integration and Cost-benefit analysis. Her experience includes the following projects: Ex-post evaluation of the Observatory of European SMEs, Evaluation and Planning for the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, appraisal of Development plan of Mezzogiorno (European Commission), collaboration in the drafting of the EC Guide of cost-benefit analysis. She recently has been involved in the Sustainable Development Programme for the War affected Areas in Croatia, funded by CARDS. |

She holds a degree in Economics and specialised in business management at ISTAO, Ancona. She coordinates a master degree in a specific SME sector and is Director of the Business Consulting Unit at CSIL. She specialises in consulting in economic and financial analysis for the competitiveness of SMEs. |

| Renata D'Antoni |
|
She has longstanding experience in the wood technology sector. She
is the director responsible for the magazine "L'industria del legno
e del mobile", specifically in charge with the section on technology
and innovation. |
| Mario Genco |
|
He is a partner of CSIL since 1997. He is an engineer specialising
in evaluation, planning and management of projects and programmes at
a regional and national level. He is an expert in the energy sector
and in the water industry, with a special focus on Italian
Mezzogiorno. He has been appointed as Advisor for several water and
environmental projects by national and international bodies. His
experience encompasses all phases of project cycle management: from
ex-ante evaluation and feasibility studies, to operational planning,
follow-up of authorising procedures, organisations and coordination
of implementation, ex-post evaluation. |
| Paolo Rosso |

He is partner of CSIL since 1998, in such a capacity he carries out
international industrial development projects, and research and
consultancy in wood processing and furniture sector. He is free
lance consultant and professional engineer since 1990. Among his
main current clients he works for "Studiare Sviluppo" in-house
agency of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, Department
for Development and Cohesion policies for coordinating EC
institutional twinning projects and bilateral cooperation projects
aimed at transferring the Italian experience on EC Structural Funds
programming and management (in Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland,
Malta, Croatia, among others) and for various Italian Regions as
senior consultant in EC Structural Funds implementation (Obj. 1 and
obj. 2, CIP Interreg, ERDF Innovative actions).Further
collaborations include IADB - Inter-American Development Bank of
Washington-D.C. for projects concerning SMEs, regional and local
development and competitiveness in Latin America and ERVET -
Regional Development Agency of Emilia-Romagna Region of Bologna (Italy)
on regional development projects. In ERVET in the early '90, he
worked as responsible for Regional Planning Unit. |
| Giovanna Castellina |

She is a CSIL partner and senior consultant. She holds a laurea
degree in modern literature, specialising in industrial history. A
senior expert in sector analysis, she makes use of market common
survey tools such as interviews, turnover analysis and analysis of
main competitiveness indicators. |
| Maria Jone Cocco-Ordini |

She has a a 15-year experience in the management of all general
affairs connected with the carrying out of economic studies and
research, like project secretariat, public relations, reports
editing, administrative arrangements, translations and others. |
| Sara Colautti |
|
She holds a degree in Political Sciences (Milan) with a major in
statistics. She is a partner of Csil, in charge with quantitative
analysis of business data. Her research experience includes the
preparation of a database on structural data of 103 provinces in
Italy, the management of CSIL econometric model specializing in
forecast for some SMEs sectors, design and management of a large
database of import export data for more than 50 countries, sector
analysis for more than 15 SMEs industries, biannual business surveys
with more than 1200 interviews, rates of return data elaboration for
EBRD, EU, World bank projects. She collaborates in the teaching of
economics in the University of Milan, and is the author of some
research papers published in learned journals in economics. She has
a thorough knowledge of Italian industrial districts. |

She is the editor responsible for CSIL magazines and relations with
press. She is an expert in the identification of design and
consumption trends for the furniture sector. She collaborated in
several international projects dealing with SMEs in Latin America
and Europe. |
| Cecilia Pisa |

She graduated in Political Science at the University of Milan
specialising in statistical analysis and quantitative methods. She
has longstanding experience processing data and building databases. |
| Alessandra Tracogna |
|
She holds a laurea degree at DES, Bocconi University (Milan),
specialising in statistical analysis. She is responsible for the
statistical unit and world reports, and she carries out sector
competitiveness analysis for international markets. |
